Xobaline, Hammer Nutrition’s vitamin B12/Folate supplement may come in a tiny pill, but the benefits these two B vitamins provide are far from small; they are, in fact, incredibly numerous and wide-reaching.
Dr. Bill Misner once summarized just how valuable consistent Xobaline supplementation is in stating: “There are virtually 100's of papers demonstrating the health benefits from folate and vitamin B12 in the cells, digestion, vision, hair, skin, immune system musculoskeletal system, nervous system, oral health, and sexual system. Xobaline is a supplement I enthusiastically recommend and take every day.”
While daily supplementation with Xobaline is definitely recommended all year long—among many other things, it’s a “must use” supplement for enhancing exercise recovery—new research suggests that it’s crucially needed during the summer months.
What researchers found were reduced serum levels of folate are associated with higher amounts of ultraviolet light exposure. Put another way: more sun equals less folate in your body.
This is important because, in the words of lead researcher, José Aguilera, PhD, “Folate is essential for cell division and growth. Low levels of folate may cause megaloblastic anemia, neural tube defects and cardiovascular disease, among other conditions.”
Megaloblastic anemia is a condition in which the bone marrow produces unusually large, structurally abnormal, immature red blood cells. Neural tube defects occur in the first month of pregnancy, and are birth defects of the brain, spine, or spinal cord. The two most common neural tube defects are spina bifida and anencephaly.
The researchers analyzed nearly 119,000 serum blood samples collected from hospitalized patients, and found a substantial folate decrease in all seasons compared to winter, with a massive 37% higher folate deficiency average in summer compared to winter.
Given all of the benefits that folate provides, deficiency in this B vitamin is obviously something to be avoided, especially during summer months when sun/ultraviolet light exposure causes folate degradation and depletion.
Xobaline contains 800 mcg of 5-MTHF, the most bioavailable form of folate available, along with a complementary 200 mcg of highly bioavailable vitamin B12. For best benefits, both of these nutrients should be taken together, and Xobaline’s got you covered in that regard.
Xobaline, an exceptionally important product to take all year long, and especially so during the summer months!
In addition to xobaline, we recommend taking the basic multivitamin.
